Wi-Fi Update: From fw 1.13
One big improvement in FW 1.13 is the OTA (Over-the-Air update). This not only makes the update process much easier for the user, but also lets us keep improving Uranograph daily without forcing the user to go through a boring update process every time.
So, once FW 1,13 is installed, these will be the steps required to update your unit in the future.
Go to the system menu by holding down the settings menu button.
In the system menu screen, you will find the OTA update option under the name “Wi-Fi update”. Select it.
Once selected, scan for a network and select one from the list.
Then add the password by using the encoder. (press to edit a character, scroll to move between characters, and change position. Double-tap to confirm and exit).
Press “Check new FW” to verify a new version is available, then press the encoder to install it.
When installation is launched, two progress bars will appear. Then it will ask to restart the unit.
Once restarted, the Uranograph will be flashed to the new FW. This will take longer than usual.
Before 1.13
What you’ll need:
A Windows PC or Mac with an internet connection, one USB‑C cable and one Micro‑USB cable
Both cables must support data transfer, not just charging. Most update issues are caused by using power‑only cables.
1. Update the audio CPU
On the Uranograph, press the button with the PC icon to open the System menu.
Press and hold Update CPU with the encoder until the display shows “Ready to program.”
On your computer, open https://flash.daisy.audio/ and choose File upload.
Open audio_cpu folder and select audio_cpu.bin.
click Flash
In the pop‑up window, select FS in DFU mode and wait for the end of the update
If you can’t see any device in the pop-up windows, please try another cable and ensure that it is a data cable.
If you keep having problems, a USB driver reset could solve the issues:https://daisy.audio/tutorials/zadig
2. Update the control CPU
Download and install the CP210x USB‑to‑UART driver
Go to https://www.silabs.com/software-and-tools/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers?tab=downloads
Install the driver, then restart your computer.
Connect the hardware
With the Uranograph powered on, plug the USB‑C and micro USB cables to Uranograph USBs ports
Flash the firmware
Under “Program,” leave the baud rate unchanged and click Connect.
In the pop‑up window, select CP210x USB‑to‑UART (or a similarly named entry) from the list of COM ports.
When connected, you’ll see a form with Flash address fields
Press the red "Erase memory" button and wait until the serial monitor shows "Chip erase completed."
You have now to load 4 files, and set the field to the corresponding flash address:
Press Browse to select a file, and add a file to load another.
boot_app0.bin to address 0x0000E000
bootloader.bin to address 0x00000000
firmware.bin to address 0x00010000
partitions.bin to address 0x00008000
Set Flash Mode to "dio", flash frequency to 80m, flash size to 8MB.
Click Program. When the status reads “Hard resetting via RTS pin…”, click Disconnect and restart the Uranograph.
Your control CPU is now updated!
That’s it—your Uranograph is fully updated!
