// XPSU
XPSU is our new power system expressly developed for eurorack needs. It's composed by 2 easily connectable elements: The COREBOARD and it's own expansion, the BUSBOARD. Together they make the XPSU suitable for every case size, from a small portable one to a huge studio system.

No soldering or even screwdrivers are needed to
set up your power system.

COREBOARD //
That's the core of the system: it’s a modern dc/dc switching unit powered by a 15VDC 60W laptop brick adapter (we suggest using a MEANWELL GSM6015P1J). Thanks to its great efficiency rate (98%) it's capable of providing a huge amount of power and connections despite its small size factor (250 x 76 x 15mm). Indeed, it can deliver on its 16IDC connectors up to 3,5A on the +12V rail, 1,5A on the -12V rail and 1A on the 5V rail. If more power is needed several COREBOARDs can be linked togheter using the same power brick. The power rails are balanced according to standard eurorack modules ratio of power consumption

BUSBOARD //
If you need more connectors you can chain one or more passive Busboards gaining 16 IDC connectors each. The Busboard, beside being passive, has all the same specs of Xpsu: same layout, same filtering, same dimensions and outlets.

//Low Noise

Both the Coreboard and Busboard are 4 layer boards with 2oz. copper thickness for the outer layers and 1.5oz for the inner ones. This means that a dedicated copper plane is present for every power rail ensuring low noise/low impedance paths and better heat loss. Beside all that copper every connector is individually filtered with three independent LC filters. This has been made to avoid parasite noises and to reduce crosstalks/bleeds between modules. In total we used 96 components for that filtering job and it proved to be worthy. As an extra bonus, this cuts down the PSU DC ripple to a few mV for each rail. Not bad at all.

// i2C ready

We believe in the power of i2C and that it will be more and more used in the future. That’s why we wanted to encourage this trend by adding a dedicated active i2c busboard. Seven 2x03/2.54” pin connectors with pullup resistors are used for that purpose. Better be prepared for the future, no?

// Easy to connect

To connect all the elements together we chose molex MicroFit connectors for their simplicity of use and for their high performances. Besides the small footprint those connectors can accept large wires (up to 20AWG) to avoid voltage drops, noises and overheating. MicroFit connection is faster and safer, there is just no way to plug it wrong.

In any case a reverse polarity protection circuit is present to avoid any risk.

Standard screw terminals are also available for either in or out connections, this can be used by the DIY enthusiast to power up the COREBOARD with different kind of power supply (i.e. Toroidal, batteries...). In alternative it could be useful for extracting +15v or a +12V connection for powering other external devices.
